ODUA DE – Ensemble
Oduduwa (Odua) our father inspired me to use my talent and skills in praises of the Orishas. The blessings of being able to speak, can be attributed to Umale Aju my ancestral deity. I was told I could not speak till the age of 5, untill offerings were made to Umale Aju my mother Chief Mrs. Olaribide Christiana Bajowa said. Today, am grateful to Eledumare that I can sing and chant.
To honour the universe for my blessings, I perform with like minded individuals in the group ODUA DE – Ensemble: meaning Odua ( Oduduwa) has come. The group plays traditional rhythms set to sacred songs and chants to the Orishas of the Yoruba people.
Our presentations include Libations and Mojuba ceremonies with or without an Egungun masked dancer. ODUA DE Sets sometimes include contemporary performances with Gangan, Sakara, Bata (Yoruba Talking Drums) Djembe and playing traditional and contemporary Highlife, Juju and Afro Beat music. The band also perform gospel music in English and Yoruba.
